- When is the recycling center open?
The recycling center is open on Thursday from 1- 4 pm and Saturday
from 10 am - 3 pm

- What day is garbage and recycling
pickup in the Village of Grantsburg for Village residents? Garbage
and recycling pickup is on Wednesday in the Village. East
Central Sanitation has been contracted for this service. East
Central Sanitation begins their route at 6:30 am so please make sure
that your garbage is placed at the curb by 6:30 am on Wednesday.
Recycling is picked up on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday's of each month.

- What Holiday's does East Central
Sanitation recognize? ECS recognizes the following
holidays: Independence Day, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving
Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day. If the holiday falls on
a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday the garbage for that week will fall
one day later. Thanksgiving Day will not affect our
residential customers.

- Is the solid waste transfer
station open? Yes, the solid waste transfer station is open
on Friday from 1 - 4 pm and Saturday from 9 am - 12 noon.
The transfer station is operated by North Country Dumpsters.

- How do I dispose of leaves and
brush? The compost pile located at the transfer station off
of W. Benson Avenue is open for disposal of leaves and brush on
Thursday from 1-4 pm, Friday from 1-4 pm and Saturday from 10 am - 3
pm.
- What if I have an item, such as a
sofa or bed, or other large item of trash to be picked up?
Village residents can utilize a sticker system for larger items that
they would like to have picked up at the curb on garbage pickup day.
Please call the Village Office at 715-463-2405 to determine how many
stickers you will need for your item. Stickers are $2 each and
can be purchased at the Village Office.
Voting/Elections

- How do I register to vote?

at 715-463-2405 with any additional questions or concerns.

- Where do I vote at?
If you live in the Village of Grantsburg your polling place is
located at Village Hall at 316 S Brad Street. Polls are open
from 7 am - 8 pm on Election Day. If you live outside of the
Village please contact the Burnett County Clerk at 715-349-2173 to
determine your voting location.

- How do I request an absentee ballot?
The request is made to the municipal clerk in writing
by using the
Application for Absentee Ballot (GAB-121) or by letter
requesting an absentee ballot which provides substantially the same
information required on the application form. In either case,
the elector making the request must sign the application. If a
request is made for more than one person residing at the same
address, each person must sign the request.

- How can I become an election
inspector? Please contact the Village Clerk at
715-463-2405. Election inspectors must be 18 years of age or
older, be able to read and write the English language and be able to
attend training as needed.

- Do I need a building permit?
A Village of Grantsburg land use permit is required on all new
residential, commercial and accessory structures including additions
and alteration of all existing structures regardless of age.

A Wisconsin Uniform Dwelling Code (UDC)
Building Permit, Plan Review and Inspections are required for all
new residential one and two family dwellings and additions and
alterations on one and two family dwellings built since June 1,
1980. UDC building permits are applied for at North Lakes
Mechanical Consulting Services, Inc., 7426 Main Street West, PO Box

Plan Review and Inspections are applied for at State of Wisconsin

- How do I contact the Fire
Chief? The Fire Chief can be contacted by calling the
Grantsburg Fire Department at 715-463-2294. Please leave a
message and your call will be returned. The Fire Department
checks their voice mail regularly.

| Taxes |
- When are Village tax bills
sent out and where can I pay my taxes? Village tax
bills are sent out around the third week in December. The full
amount or the first installment is due by January 31st and can be
paid to the Village Treasurer at 316 S. Brad Street, Grantsburg,
Wisconsin 54840.
The second half of taxes is due by July
31st. This payment is made to the Burnett County Treasurer at
the Burnett County Government Center, 7410 County Road K #101,
Siren, Wisconsin 54872. They may be reached by calling
715-349-2187.

- When does the Village send water/sewer utility bills?
The Village sends water/sewer utility bills quarterly. This
bill also contains the charge for garbage pickup.

| Village Board |
- When does the Village Board meet? The Village
Board meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 5 pm at the
Grantsburg Village Office, 316 S Brad Street, Grantsburg, Wisconsin.

- How do I appear before the Village Board?
Contact the Village Clerk at 715-463-2405 to be placed on the
agenda.

- When is the Village caucus held? The
Village caucus is normally held in January of each year.
Notices will be posted at the Village Office and in the Burnett
County Sentinel.

| Animals |
- Do I have to have my dog
licensed in the Village? Yes, all dogs ages 5 months and
older must be licensed in the Village of Grantsburg. An
application is enclosed with your tax statement each year.
Property owners, please remind your renters of this policy if you
allow pets. Dog license fees for 2011 are as follows:
Males: $10, Neutered Males: $5, Females:
$10, Spayed Females: $5. Presentation of evidence that the dog
is currently immunized against rabies is required. A $5
penalty will be added to the above fees after April 1st.

addition, village ordinance requires that all dogs must be leashed
in the Village.

- How many dogs and cats can I have in the Village?
Village ordinance states that no person or family shall own, harbor
or keep in its possession more than three (3) dogs and two (2) cats
in any residential unit without the prior issuance of a multiple dog
license by the Village Board, except that a litter of pups or
kittens or a portion of the litter may be kept for not more than
eight weeks from birth.

- How do I obtain an operator
license (bartender license) to serve alcohol? An
application form is available by
clicking here.
Please complete the application form, provide proof of completion of
a responsible beverage service course and provide the appropriate
payment to the Village Office. All applications are reviewed
by the Grantsburg Police Department and then sent to the Village
Board for action.

- How do I obtain a copy of a police report from the
Grantsburg Police Department? Please contact the
Grantsburg Police Department by calling 715-463-5103. Copies
cost $2 per report for up to five pages. Reports in excess of
five pages shall be .50 for each additional page. Requests for
photographs require a fee of $2 per print to cover the cost of
processing? Additional charges for articles/pictures on CD's
will apply. Please ask when making your request for the total
charge.
